Ω-Bag packaging system

The Ω-Bag package is a new development from Giro that offers an alternative into the low-cost net bag segment, particularly the well-known clipped net bags.
The Ω-Bag comes from a very simple idea, a tubular knitted net with both ends joined in a handle.
This simple idea becomes a convenient, economical, highly visible, ergonomic and attractive packaging.
Before launching the Ω-Bag a qualitative research has been carried out with the objective to know the consumer’s opinion, who gave a very favourable assessment on this new bag.In this research consumers expressed their preference for the new Ω-Bag against traditional clipped net bag. Basically they pointed out its handling convenience, its attractiveness and the strength feeling.
Obviously the Ω-Bag is possible because there is a bagging machine capable to make it. The OB-10 presented in Fruitlogistica’08 is the first prototype of Ω-Bagger series. Thanks to the ultrasound welding technology the OB-10 is capable to make an excellent net-label-tape junction to make up the Ω-Bag. It is foreseen to install the first test unit in Autum’08 and the regular production is planned for Spring-Summer 2009.
